So, I was told by an Israeli girl I met in a shopping mall this weekend. I am from Boston and she is from Tel Aviv. I noticed her Star of David on her necklace and I showed her mine. I am an ethnic Jew in the process of converting. She works at one of those carts that the people sell creams and lotions from the Dead Sea. There is a group of these people selling the wares from their carts. The men approach the ladies and this girl approached me as well as other male customers in the mall.
She had a slight foreign accent but seemed to have the behavior of a gypsy. It was a bizarre scene, like something out of a movie. She would glance at me side ways and smirk.
“You must go to Israel,”she said. “But do not bring wife or girlfriend. No, no, no. You must go alone and meet girls of Israel. Very beautiful people, beautiful women that are fantastic.”
I told her that there are many beautiful women right here in America.
“Hahahahaha!” she laughed. “Come to Israel. You do not know what love awaits you until you have been there. You do not know what the true love of a woman for a man is until you have experienced the love of a true Israeli woman.”
I remember the words, as well as her “come hither” gestures with her hands as she was describing this to me. Her black eyes staring at me with side ward glance. The dimples of her olive skinned face perking up in my direction. Her ruby red lips parting with this strangely seductive accent.
I had to get back to work. I was on my break and had to get back. She was quickly off selling creams and lotions to other men.
Would anyone care to share with me what she meant by the beautiful women of Israel? More beautiful than American women? That I would not know what love is until I fall in love with an Israeli woman? Was this Israeli saleswoman pulling my leg, or what?
She was selling wares from the Middle East. However she made a rather arresting sales pitch for a middle aged man like myself to suddenly become curious about making a pilgrimage to Israel. To see the Holy Lands and, perhaps, bring home a bride.
I would not be going for just the women.
But this girl did spark an interest that I had never thought of.
An American man finding love in Israel. Would a marriage between an American ethnic Jew and an Israeli woman work out? I may have found a further inspiration to convert to Judaism. I have dated many American Jewish women and seem to prefer them. I wonder if there is any truth to what this girl told me.

Example 1-Some lady recently gets the results of her genealogy research and a guy asks her “Are you part Indian?” (even though he CLEARLY overheard her results, as we were assisting the researchers). She chews him out and says “I have fair skin and fluffy hair. I am sorry I do not fit your stereotype of an African American woman. Furthermore, just because I have a dash of Indian blood does not mean that I am going to run off and claim to be “part-Indian,” because I am BLACK. I know who my true ancestors are, and no percentage of Native American or European blood is going to change who I call MY people.”

Example 2-While watching footage of the Jackson family’s variety show, two fools (my neighbors, who I thankfully, do not attend college with) say “Michael and Jermaine’s afros was so pretty and curly” AND “Rebbie was hot, man! Look at those cheekbones! She looks just like her mother, you know they’ve got Indian in their family!”

They obviously knew that I was upset, because they were quick to say “Not trying to insinuate anything negative! I researched it online, and there ancestors were held by Indians, so they really ARE black and Indian.”

Now, as a mixed-race person (black dad/native indian mother), I realize that it’s hypocritical that my first reaction was “Who cares?!” I am sick and tired of fools like this home and abroad acting as if black guys can’t have pretty hair unless their “part Indian.” That black women can’t be attractive unless their “part Indian.” That I am so pretty because I’m “half Indian.” So I basically retorted with “If you think it is uncommon to find people whose slave ancestors were held by Indians, you need to learn history. And I’m sorry to disappoint you, but until Native Voices magazine and indiancountrytoday.com start reporting on Michael Jackson’s passing as have Jet/Ebony magazine and blackamericaweb.com, I think the Jackson’s identify as African American.”

Because honestly, people can’t just LOOK at a person and say “No, they don’t have any Indian ancestry!”..because looks can be deceiving and people don’t know others’ ethnic background unless they ask. And even if the Jackson family and other black families do have Native ancestry, they’re just descendants, because they’re not “enrolled.” (but I really don’t wanna get into all the political stuff)… In other words, the ancestry is THERE, it may be present in facial features, but it really doesn’t define how you identify.

**I merely used the Jackson’s as an example to further magnify this, so in responses, you don’t have to necessarily address them when responding.

We’ve all seen movies and teen dramas. From those movies, I want you to visualize the ideal popular girl.
She’s snobby, stuck up, she thinks the world revolves around her. She’s shallow, superficial. She is stunningly beautiful and is constantly bragging about her beauty.
She has big ripe breasts and long legs. With silky flowing hair and radiant glowing skin without a single spec of acne or discoloration. She also has an hourglass figure.

It really comes down to in today’s world women are more empowered and independent then in history past. Thus they feel on more equal footing with men and can challenge that more directly. I personally have no problem with that thinking. Although this becomes a problem when neither men or women what to compromise as it becomes a power struggle. Feminist’s tend to go overboard and feel men are the reasons behind all their problems which only adds fuel to the fire. One possible reason some men might as in the case of Asian women go that way may be simply just personal preference. Some people are just attracted to people with darker skin or certain features like long black hair petite, youthful, presentation, etc. Lack of culture I feel is a possible reason as well. People tend to be drawn to this when it is lacking in their own. Not to mention the whole mystique or inaccessibility factor may come into play as well. On the other hand black men tend to be more muscular or athletic then white men and may be attractive to white women more. Most Black men I know are also very good dancers which could be a factor as well who knows.

Although to assume in the case of Asian women and Caucasian men it is due to them being desperate or feel that Asian women are easier to control is likely not the real reason in most cases. From what I have experienced it seems that being in harmony with ones partner is good for both couples. Asian women tend to have more self-confidence and not as many mood swings or abandonment issues as well. Women don’t take into consideration that men do have feelings as well even though they don’t usually show it. Society has conditioned us into believing that it is solely the man’s job to uphold the family. That it is the man’s job to not have feelings and just be a man so to speak, whatever that means lol. Men are suppose to always keep the women happy regardless as we so willingly reinforce aka Valentine’s Day etc. In contrast in Japan Valentine’s Day is just the reverse which is interesting. On the other hand men aren’t always good listeners, patient or in-tune to a women’s feelings which sorta gets lost in translation. A man wants to feel important and that he’s doing a good job and a women wants to feel she is being cared for.

A relationship needs to be equal parts everything Ying and Yang. I think the reason you may see interracial relationships more may simply be that Men are looking for something they are missing in their own relationships, lives or culture. Asian women tend more supportive as well as more importance put on family and tradition. Not to mention not being so critical or distrusting of their man. They are not as confrontational and are seem more on equal footing. On the flip side Asian women may be looking for men that would help their social status, networking or career plans. You offer an Asian Women means for higher education she usually is honored by the offer. As other women would likely kick you out the door or think she is not good enough for you. In closing am I wrong in this thinking? What might be the reasons Men or Women Date Outside their race? Is is purely as simple as control or is their a deeper more logical meaning behind this?
If people feel this is a rant then I will delete it. I am sorry if it comes across that way. I am just trying to take a different view. Anyone who has dealt with an Interratial Relationship I would like to hear from and your experience has been.
